“Stories of Hope” Speech Showcase

On 2 June, we gathered with whānau, friends, and supporters to celebrate a very special milestone for our MADE to Lead Phase Two group.

Over the previous four weeks, our leaders had been working with the incredible Pritesh Chandra from Better Version of You, learning how to shape and share their stories through a public speaking module. Then came the challenge: standing up in front of a room full of people and telling their Story of Hope.

And wow, did they rise to the occasion.

Thirteen speakers took to the stage, each sharing a different journey. There were stories of hardship, healing, faith, perseverance, and transformation. There were tears, plenty of laughter, and more than a few nervous moments. But above all, there was courage.

Many of our speakers admitted they had been terrified leading up to the event. One participant shared afterwards:

"I was scared and nervous all the way until my turn. But Jesus was in the building big time... I feel joyful, relieved and humbled by everyone's stories. We did it guys."

For us, this evening wasn't really about public speaking. It was about people finding their voice.

One of the things we love most about MADE to Lead is watching people discover that their story matters. The challenges they have overcome, the lessons they have learned, and the hope they carry can become a gift to others walking a similar path.

The evening began with a shared dinner and we were so grateful to our amazing friends from Sistahood, who volunteered their time to serve our guests and help create such a welcoming atmosphere.

As the final speaker stepped down and certificates were presented, there was a real sense of achievement in the room. These weren't just speeches - they were testimonies of resilience, growth, and the power of community.

We are so proud of every single person who stepped up and shared their story. What a privilege it is to walk alongside these incredible leaders as they continue to grow, serve, and make a difference in their own whānau and communities.

Massive thanks to Faith from Aferetipoi Photography and Joel Walsham for capturing our stories so beautifully.
