Planting together

We didn’t expect to find ourselves all out of a job at the end of September 2024. The Community Leadership team had been working on a project with the Wiri women’s prison; they had been growing native plants from seeds and had approached us to organise a planting day. The day was arranged in collaboration with the Beautification Trust for Saturday the 28th.

It turned out to be the day after our final day at Te Whakaora - but that was no reason not to go ahead with the planting!

So a bunch of people from our team turned up to the planting day, with kids, dogs and even some board members.

Planting - creating something beautiful together - was just what was needed! It did everyone the world of good to get their hands in the dirt. (It helped that someone kindly shouted the volunteers KFC afterwards!)
